i need to put these things on my calendar. Every wednesday i look up and go "wait, the carnival! d'oh!"
You can always ask if the host will accept late posts. Not all hosts do, but many are happy to take later submissions. You might have to send them directly to the host, though, because we're usually now changing forwarding on Wednesday once the carnival is up.
