This reminds me of that joke that God played on the pastor who skipped his turn preaching in the morning service and went golfing instead. The Lord allowed him to play spectacularly, including an unbelievable hole-in-one. One of the angels asked how this lavishness was going to help correct the pastor's ill-advised golfing venture. The Lord replied, "How many people do you think he can tell this story to?"
